KNOXVILLE ZOO

Since winning this category last year, the 53-acre zoological park has added two habitats that present animals in natural surroundings. The Stokely African Elephant Preserve opened in April, followed by Grasslands Africa in August.

They're part of an $18 million renovation project that will continue through 2004. To make a cost-free contribution to the Knoxville Zoo, visit the Zoo Tycoon Web site and vote for head reptile zookeeper Phil Colclough in the Ultimate Zookeeper campaign. Colclough is a semifinalist. The winner gets $20,000 for his or her zoo. The Web site is www.microsoft.com/zootycoon/ultimatezookeeper.asp.
