ABERCROMBIE & FITCH
West Town Mall
Abercrombie & Fitch was once the largest sporting goods store in the world. The New York landmark had a log cabin and a casting pool on its roof. Inside, there were a rifle range, a kennel and an entire floor devoted to set-up camps. When Teddy Roosevelt went to Africa on safari, when Robert Peary sought the North Pole, when Ernest Hemingway needed a new elephant gun ... they all turned to Abercrombie & Fitch.
Today, more than 100 years since Mr. Abercrombie met Mr. Fitch, the company is still the leading outfitter for wild life. After all, what other clothing company publishes a catalog that's kept under the counter and is off limit to minors?
