Crocodile Dundee's comeback may have gone down the gurgler, but Aussie cuisine is still fair dinkum with Yanks.
It was an appetizer -- or Aussie-tizer as they prefer it at Outback -- that put the restaurant chain on the USA dining map. The Bloomin' Onion -- which, under a variety of cute names, is now a staple at most every themed dining establishment -- was introduced when the first Outback opened in Tampa, Fla., in 1987. It comes with a special dipping sauce, but we always get a side of ranch dressing and double-dip. It's bonzer!
