DAVID KEITH
For the second year, our readers have chosen David Keith as their favorite actor. However, Dale Dickey -- who starred opposite her fellow native Knoxvillian in this summer's "The Rainmaker" at the Clarence Brown Theatre, says the macho actor's full depth of talent hasn't been tapped in the more than 50 movies he has made.
"He needs to be in a screwball comedy or a Woody Allen film," she says.
"He has an uncanny talent for mimicry and accents. There's such a goofy side of David that he normally doesn't let people see."
While he's waiting for Woody Allen to call, Keith stays very busy. He had four movies released this year.
"David just works all the time, and a lot of actors don't," Dickey says. "That's a testament to his talent.
"And he enjoys it."
Dickey has known Keith most of her life and, just as he did for her character in "The Rainmaker," the actor has always made her "feel beautiful."
"He's always filled me with confidence and made me feel good about myself," says Dickey, whose credits include TV's "Christy" and the Jack Nicholson movie "The Pledge."
"David is such a loyal family person and a loyal friend to people he's known. There's an empathetic side to him that really is wonderful."
He's also a hunky devil, says Dickey, who nuzzled up to her old friend for a romantic scene in "The Rainmaker."
"That ain't no bad shakes," she says. "He's a good kisser."
